The Differences Between my Kids...

CASE IN POINT

I'm always commenting at how different my two kids are.  Of course, the obvious boy versus girl stuff.  But, there are other, personality differences which blow my mind.  Are we sure one of you wasn't switched at birth?  Travis is so laid back, adaptable, flexible, easy going.  Eva is so intense, competitive, and determined.  Travis is a softy with a warm heart, interest, and love for others.  Eva is tough, independent, and focused.

Of course this manifests itself in many ways.  For example, the way they dress (Travis only now starting to care what goes on his body; Eva always choosing the latest fashion), the way they study (Travis last minute, Eva planned out for days), the way they organize (Travis not understanding the word, Eva with each piece of notebook paper in a sheet protector organized by subject and cross-listed alphabetically) all illustrate their unique personalities.

The latest example is the way each child interacts with Bam-D, our adorable multepoo.  Eva refuses to use the name Bam-D, opting instead to call the dog "Dog".  What an independent and STUBBORN girl!  Bam-D loves Eva's room because it always has stray shoes on the floor.  Eva will have little to do with the dog and punts (calm down PETA, it's just a saying) him from her room at every opportunity.    If you catch Eva at a weak, vulnerable moment (good luck), she will admit he is sweet or cute.  But they truly have a master/dog relationship.

Travis, on the other hand, will confess his love for Bam-D.  He gets down on the floor with him and plays and tries to get him to play fetch.  It upsets Travis when Bam-D does not give him full attention.  If Bam-D wants to play or sit with someone else, you can see Travis' hurt.  And Travis loves it when Bam-D will take naps with him.  Here are a few of my favorites of the two of them snuggled together.
